Despite Marnus Labuschagne’s unbeaten 93, Gloucestershire pulled off an impressive victory over Glamorgan yesterday. Reasonable contributions from seven batsman, including a top-score of 44 from overseas keeper Glenn Phillips, gave Gloucester a strong score before the irrepressibly and uniquely brilliant Benny Howell took 3-39 as they won by four runs. They come up against a Sussex Sharks side that are beginning their tournament without Jofra Archer due to injury and Ollie Robinson due to a break from cricket but will welcome Luke Wright in as their white-ball captain as well as T20 specialists Rashid Khan, David Wiese and Tymal Mills alongside Chris Jordan. That impressive bowling lineup is balanced by the aforementioned Wright and the explosive Phil Salt at the top-of-the-order.

It is an impressive Sussex lineup throughout the team and, given that several of their players focus primarily and solely on T20 cricket, they should be wholeheartedly focused and ‘ready to go’. Gloucestershire will be pleased with home advantage and that victory against Glamorgan will boost their confidence but they do come into this match as the underdogs.
