What was the outcome in the last meeting? Karachi Kings beat Lahore Qalandars by 5 wickets

  • Lahore Qalandars earned just their second victory of PSL 5 as they produced a stunning performance to defeat reigning champions Quetta Gladiators and get their play-offs back on track.
  • Samit Patel stole the show with a superb spell of bowling that saw him take four wickets from his four overs and he conceded just five runs during that period with the Qalandars starting their innings with the ball in devastating fashion as they reduced the Gladiators to 21/6.
  • The Gladiators were able to grind out a score of 98/9 but that was never likely to be anywhere near enough and the Qalandars made light work of their target as they surpassed it with over eight overs to spare for a dominant eight-wicket victory, and they will hope Chris Lynn is able to return after he missed the game with Quetta due to a fever.

  • Karachi Kings were in a great position to make it three consecutive victories in PSL 5 but the elements robbed them of the chance to build on their recent impressive form as their game with Multan Sultans was abandoned.
  • The Kings were able to remove all of the top six, with the exception of Moeen Ali, for single-figures and had them in real trouble at 64/6 although Shahid Afridi rallied to mount a response as the Sultans moved to 102/6 before the rain hit.
  • That was how the Sultans finished as the rain brought an early end to the contest but the Kings will take plenty of positives from that and will look to build on it as they face Lahore in what is a crucial contest for Karachi.

Lahore Qalandars produced one of the performances of tournament so far as they destroyed Quetta Gladiators. They had huge joy with the ball on a pitch that offered plenty of turn and Samit Patel took full advantage. They will face Karachi Kings at the same venue and should it play like it did in the game against the Gladiators, the Qalandars will be very confident of repeating their success. Karachi are in good form and they too will fancy their chances but Lahore’s spinners should prove to be the difference in this one.
