  • Karachi Kings once again failed to make the final of the Pakistan Super League last time out and they will be eager to break their duck in this campaign with big things of them expected in this tournament.
  • Karachi have made a huge statement by bringing in Dean Jones as their new coach and the man who was able to guide Islamabad United to two PSL titles has some real talent at his disposal.
  • Alex Hales is a crucial addition at the top of the order and after a strong recent showing in the BBL, he should be able to lay a big platform with the bat along with the likes of Cameron Delport and Babar Azam whilst Mohammad Amir will be heavily relied upon once again with the ball.

  • Peshawar Zalmi have made each of the last three PSL finals but have finished second best in the last two after they were beaten by Quetta Gladiators in last year’s final although few would put it past them to rectify that this time around.
  • Peshawar have recruited well with the additions to their batting line-up perhaps the most pivotal having gone for a mix of youth and experienced with England’s big-hitting opener Tom Banton joining veteran Shoaib Malik.
  • Their ability with the bat is set to be supported by the double threat of Wahab Riaz and Hasan Ali with that pair taking more wickets in the PSL than anybody else and that quality with the ball is sure to aid a great all-round threat for Peshawar.

Karachi Kings will have it all to do if they are to get off to a winning start in this Pakistan Super League campaign. They have never finished better than third in this competition and have lost their last four matches against Peshawar Zalmi. Karachi have made some big moves to try and improve on both of those records including bringing in two-time winning coach Dean Jones from Islamabad but Peshawar are a strong outfit and will prove difficult to beat in their opening contest.
