What was the outcome in the last meeting? Karachi Kings beat Lahore Qalandars by 10 wickets

  • Karachi Kings were defeated by Quetta Gladiators in their final round robin game of PSL 5 but it did not prevent the Kings from advancing to the semi-finals in second place where they will meet Lahore Qalandars.
  • The Kings failed to score anywhere near quickly enough on a decent pitch as they managed just 150/5 with Cameron Delport’s knock of 62 the best effort among the Karachi batsmen, his efforts proving in vain.
  • The Gladiators went past that total with ease as they secured the win with 22 balls to spare and the Kings must now deal with the loss of bowler Mitchell McClenaghan who did not feature against Quetta after opting to return home to New Zealand.

  • Lahore Qalandars produced a shock win over Multan Sultans with that victory securing the Qalandars’ place in the semi-finals of the Pakistan Super League with Chris Lynn the hero after an outstanding individual effort with the bat.
  • Despite needing 187 to win, the Qalandars lost just one wicket on their way to reaching that target as Lynn’s sensational 113 off just 55 balls was the catalyst for the victory that was imperative for Lahore.
  • That euphoria did not last long for Lynn who will be unavailable for this semi-final, along with all-rounder David Wiese, after opting to fly home due to the coronavirus outbreak but he will be able to cheer his teammates on from afar knowing that it was his knock that kept Lahore in the tournament.

Lahore Qalandars secured their spot in the semi-finals due to some brilliance from Chris Lynn but they will have to make-do without him in this contest with Karachi Kings. Neither of these teams have ever made the final of the Pakistan Super League before so there is plenty at stake for both. The pair will be missing crucial players at the top of the order with Alex Hales’ absence already confirmed for the Kings but having beaten the Qalandars by 10 wickets in their recent clash, Karachi will believe they know what it takes to beat their opponents and without the presence of Lynn in the Lahore side, Karachi should be able to take advantage to progress to the final.
