THE TEAM NEWS
SRI LANKA
- Sri Lanka maintained their 100% start to the T20 World Cup with a crushing victory over Netherlands last time out and having now won seven consecutive T20i matches, they will look to start the Super 12 phase on a positive note.
- The Sri Lankans dismissed the Netherlands for just 44 and it looks as though their bowling unit will be key to their chances in this tournament, although they have suffered a blow with Maheesh Theekshana likely to sit out this clash with a side strain.
BANGLADESH
- Bangladesh booked their spot in the next stage of the T20 World Cup by overcoming Papua New Guinea in their final game of Group B and they will be full of confidence on the back of that convincing victory.
- This will be a much tougher clash but they have some players coming into form with Shakib Al Hasan proving instrumental so far having taken nine wickets and scoring 108 runs, leading the way for the Tigers in both departments.
THE PREDICTION
Sri Lanka and Bangladesh both had to make the Super 12s the tough way
but having achieved their first target, they will now look to get off
to a strong start in this next phase. Both teams are capable of
prevailing but Sri Lanka appear to be the team to beat here. They have
won their last seven T20i matches and while Bangladesh have the talent
to cause them problems, the Sri Lankans boast a very good bowling unit
and they can prove to be the difference between the two teams.
