The performances of these two fast bowlers could well decide who wins this fourth Test at Old Trafford and they have been the standout bowlers in the Ashes series so far. Jofra Archer has been a revelation since joining the England team and is proving with every match played, that he is just as dangerous with the red ball as he is with the white. His pace slowed at Headingley but he proved just as effective in the first innings taking six wickets, though with a week in between matches and a quicker pitch at Old Trafford, we should see his bowling speed get back up to 90mph. He should add several more to his tally of 13 wickets in his two matches so far, and he will be determined to make an impact once again.
Pat Cummins was outstanding in the first two Test matches but his performance dipped a little in the historic second innings at Headingley along with the rest of the Australian bowling unit. He will be motivated to bounce back here to deflate the buoyant English batsmen and early wickets will be key to their success once again. With Joe Denly moving to open the innings, Cummins will be targeting him and Burns early on to get into the English middle order as quickly as they can.
Verdict: Jofra Archer has made a huge impact since coming into this Test side and no other bowler in the series so far has been as impactful as he has been. The rest between Test matches will have benefitted him as much as any player and expect him to be firing on all cylinders once again at Old Trafford.
