THE TEAM NEWS

WEST INDIES

  • West Indies produced a sensational performance as they blitzed England in the opening T20i match of the series and they will be confident of a repeat success as they do battle on a bouncy pitch at Kensington Oval once again.
  • The Windies ran out nine-wicket winners thanks to excellent efforts with both bat and ball but Jason Holder’s brutal spell of 4-7 from his 3.4 overs proved to be the difference between the two teams.

ENGLAND

  • England have it all to do to put yesterday’s woes behind them as they take on a buoyant West Indies outfit that will be going for the throat after such a dominant performance in their first game.
  • The tourists were skittled for 103 as a somewhat experimental side was taken apart and had it not been for Chris Jordan (28) and Adil Rashid (22) combining late on, the defeat could have been even more lopsided.

THE PREDICTION

West Indies were able to compound England’s woes as the tourists were handed a hammering in the first T20i match of the series on the back of their humiliating Ashes tour. The Windies were excellent in all departments and there could be even more to come from them with the bat. They cruised to the nine-wicket win with Brandon King leading the way with the bat, scoring 52* from 49 in what was a controlled knock with his side comfortably chasing down the 104 they required to win and after such a superb display last night, the hosts have to be favoured to back that up with another win in this one.
