THE TEAM NEWS

RAJASTHAN ROYALS

  • Rajasthan Royals got back to winning ways last time out with a crucial seven-wicket triumph over Chennai Super Kings in a match that saw contributions from their entire top five as they reached their 190-run target with 2.3 overs to spare.
  • When taking into account the performance of Rajasthan’s top order in this match, there is likely to once again be no place in the side for England all-rounder Liam Livingstone with David Miller expected to continue in the top order.

MUMBAI INDIANS

  • Mumbai Indians failed to build on their victory over Punjab Kings last Tuesday as they went down by four wickets to Delhi Capitals on Saturday as their low score of 129/8 was chased down with less than an over to spare on a tough pitch for batting.
  • Having struggled desperate for form since the resumption of the IPL, batter Suryakumar Yadav will have been delighted to top score against Delhi with 33, which should see him keep his place with Ishan Kishan remaining on the sidelines, whilst fast bowler Adam Milne will be hoping for an opportunity to play alongside Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult.

THE PREDICTION

A tight affair looks to be on the cards between two teams scrambling desperately to secure themselves a playoff place. Mumbai Indians have continued to struggle with conditions out in the UAE particularly from a batting perspective, whilst the lack of star power on the Rajasthan side especially within their bowling unit has seen them struggle, losing the last two matches where they have batted first. Key to this match is likely to the quality of Mumbai Indians’ fast bowling arsenal with both Bumrah and Boult more than good enough to get the better of the key Rajasthan Royals batters Evin Lewis and captain Sanju Samson. Combine that with the superior core of Indian players within the Mumbai side compared to Rajasthan and it may well be decisive here, so consider backing Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai Indians to get the better of their opponents in Sharjah.
