What was the outcome in the last meeting? Brisbane Heat beat Adelaide Strikers by 7 wickets

  • Adelaide Strikers suffered a big loss to Brisbane Heat and have now managed just one win from their last five matches which has seen them slide down the ladder following their strong start to this edition of the Big Bash League.
  • The Strikers’ top order failed to deliver and after they were reduced to 35/4, a small revival lower down the order was foiled by the loss of three quick wickets at the end of their innings as they were bowled out for 110.
  • Adelaide did not get close to trying to defending that total despite removing the two openers cheaply to leave them at 11/2 but the Strikers have opted to name the same 13-man squad on the back of the heavy defeat with Peter Siddle set to beat injury to feature.

  • Brisbane Heat won an important clash with Adelaide Strikers and will be looking for a repeat performance and result as they attempt to complete the double over the Strikers and open up some daylight between the two teams on the competition ladder.
  • James Pattinson was a man on a mission as he ripped through the Strikers’ top order and his 5-fer saw him claim the scalp of the first five batsmen in the order to help remove Adelaide for just 110.
  • AB de Villiers wasted little time to make an impression as he notched 40 to help his new side to a seven-wicket victory and the Heat have unsurprisingly retained the same squad for this contest although Ben Laughlin will be hoping to come into the XI.

Brisbane Heat could become a real threat for the BBL title with AB de Villiers joining an already impressive line-up and he wasted no time showing his class with a knock of 40. He was outshone by a superb bowling display by new teammate James Pattinson as he produced a sensational display in his four overs to finish with figures of 5-33. Having completely outplayed Adelaide Strikers in that game, the Heat will be confident that they can back that up and should be able to win again as they face them for the second time in quick succession.
