THE TEAM NEWS

BANGLADESH

  • Bangladesh have managed to win just one of their last seven Test matches so will need to be at their very best to overcome Pakistan in this opening contest of the two-match series.
  • The Tigers appear to be lacking quality in their squad and will need some of their more experienced players to come to the fore but their lack of dangerous bowling options could prove to be their downfall.

PAKISTAN

  • Pakistan completed a 3-0 series whitewash in their three-match T20i series with Bangladesh and they will look to build on that in this opening Test match which is something they will be confident of doing having lost just one of their last six matches in this format of the game.
  • The Pakistanis are stacked with talent with both bat and ball with the likes of Babar Azam and Shaheen Shah Afridi coming into this in excellent form with the former looking to build on his superb efforts at the recent T20 World Cup.

THE PREDICTION

Bangladesh have named something of an experimental squad for this clash with Pakistan and it could well prove to be their downfall. The tourists look stronger than the hosts across the board and will be confident of extending their solid run in Test matches having lost just one of their last six. Bangladesh on the other hand have won just one of their last seven in this format and all signs point to a win for the Pakistanis in this opening contest.
