What was the outcome in the last meeting? Dhaka Platoon beat Sylhet Thunder by 24 runs

  • Dhaka Platoon got back to winning ways on Monday as they restricted Cumilla Warriors to 160/3 from their 20 overs and then they chased that total down with five wickets to spare by hitting the winning runs on the penultimate ball.
  • Mehedi Hasan was unquestionably the star of the show as he took 4/9 from his four overs and he then smashed 59 from 29 balls in the run chase as he was easily the star of the show on either side.
  • They made the bold decision to leave out Laurie Evans after he failed to surpass 23 in his four previous innings and it paid off as they went with the Pakistani quartet of Asif Ali, Shahid Afridi, Shadab Khan and Wahab Riaz although Asif Ali needs to get some runs on the board or risking dropping back out for Evans.

  • Sylhet Thunder salvaged some pride last time out on Saturday as they hammered Khulna Tigers by 80 runs after posting an outstanding 232/5 as their West Indian batsmen finally clicked into gear with Andre Fletcher smashing 103 from 57 balls and Johnson Charles contributing 90 from 38.
  • That victory still leaves them bottom of the BPL ladder but it will have given them a major boost in confidence coming into the next round of matches and they will be hoping to build some momentum now as they face Dhaka.
  • Their batting order is boosted even more so here as they welcome yet another big-hitting West Indian as Sherfane Rutherford has arrived in Bangladesh and is available to play here so Afghan bowler Naveen-ul-Haq will almost certainly make way for him and that gives them an even stronger look to their batting department now.

Dhaka Platoon picked up a solid win on Monday and that was largely down to one man as Mehedi Hasan was in stunning form with bat and ball. They did however make the conscious decision to bolster the bowling attack with a trio of Pakistani stars forming arguably the best unit in the tournament on their day. That trio will measure up against a big-hitting West Indian trio of Charles, Fletcher and newcomer Sherfane Rutherford so the winner of those battles will likely decide the outcome of this game. Sylhet may be bottom of the pile, but they have every chance of picking up a second consecutive win here.
