After the latest round of County Championship fixtures, we wouldn’t begrudge anyone for not thinking that this could be Yorkshire’s year. Just when it looked like Northamptonshire were going to scrape home in a thrilling run chase at Emerald Headingley, Steven Patterson stepped up for the hosts to dismiss Wayne Parnell and secure Yorkshire a one-run victory for only the second time in their 158-year history. The White Rose currently sit in second-place, 25 points clear of third-place Sussex and will be confident of securing a fourth win in a row against an underperforming Kent.

Despite being tipped as one of the favourites to finish in the top two of Group 3, Kent are winless after four games and come into this match on the back of three consecutive defeats. Their latest was a ten-wicket hammering at the hands of Glamorgan after being dismissed for 138 and 74 respectively. Yorkshire’s extremely potent bowling attack will be looking forward to getting stuck into Kent’s batting line-up that despite boasting some big names such as England international Zak Crawley, is currently very low on confidence. With home advantage in their favour and conditions expected to suit the White Rose, Yorkshire look well placed to make it four consecutive first class victories.
