Bolivia won the reverse fixture last October in Alto, but Colombia know that a point here would almost certainly secure one of the automatic qualification spots for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Key stats

  • Colombia have won all their previous seven World Cup qualifying matches at home against Bolivia without conceding a goal.
  • Bolivia’s 1-0 victory at home in October 2024 was only their second victory in 15 World Cup qualifying matches between these teams. They are now aiming to complete a home and away double against Colombia in an edition of the qualifiers for the first time.
  • Colombia are without a win in their last six World Cup qualifying matches (D3 L3).
  • Colombia have lost only two of their last 15 World Cup qualifying matches at home (W6 D7).
  • Luis Díaz has scored in three of Colombia’s last four World Cup qualifying matches.
  • Bolivia have won only one of their last 72 World Cup qualifying matches outside of Bolivia. A 1-0 victory against Chile in October 2024 is their only victory since a 7-1 victory v. Venezuela in July 1993.

Colombia vs Bolivia prediction

Certainly one of the more jeopardy-laden matchups in the penultimate round of CONMEBOL fixtures, Colombia and Bolivia are both in the hunt for FIFA World Cup qualification but neither’s fate is certain.

Colombia have the greater claim to a spot in next year’s global showpiece as they currently occupy the final qualification automatic spot, and are four points clear of Venezuela, who as it stands are heading for an inter-confederation play-off.

A point will do for Colombia while Bolivia, a point behind Venezuela themselves, must defy their historically terrible away record.

Bolivia have conceded an average of two goals per game in qualifying though, and this dangerous Colombia side are likely to have too much for them in Barranquilla.
