Coach: Andrew Gale

Captain: Steven Patterson

  • The Yorkshire Vikings come into the t20 Blast with plenty of optimism but with their squad decimated by international call-ups that will affect them all summer once again.

  • David Willey, Adil Rashid, Liam Plunkett, Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow are all away with England and will hardly feature in the opening half of the tournament at the very least, while star overseas batsman Kane Williamson will miss the first five Blast fixtures.

  • They still possess plenty of quality in their ranks with veterans Balance, Bresnan and Lyth being key figures, while off-spinner Azeem Rafiq plays his first match of 2018 and he was a revelation in the Blast last season with his 17 wickets.

Coach: Jon Lewis

Captain: Tom Latham

  • Durham have named a 14-man squad for their back-to-back t20 Blast matches and they are boosted by the inclusion of star all-rounder Ben Stokes who will be available for this match but will miss the Leicestershire Foxes match as he continues to build his fitness.

  • Tom Latham captains the Jets for the first time while they can also count on their big-name overseas signing Imran Tahir with the spinner looking to enhance his reputation as one of the leading T20 spinners in the game.

  • Michael Richardson and Brydon Carse will miss out but key figures such as Paul Collingwood and Chris Rushworth will all feature as they look to make a positive start to the tournament at Headingley.

The home team has won the last seven meetings between these two sides in t20 matches which does not bode well for Durham. That said, the Jets can count upon Ben Stokes for this match and Imran Tahir is also available, so they will put out a strong side. The Vikings are hampered by international call-ups once again but they really do possess good strength and depth. The experience within the Yorkshire ranks may just give them the edge, along with home advantage.
