Coach: Craig White

Captain: James Vince

  • Hampshire are the only team to have played just one match so far but they will want to bounce back quickly from that opening defeat in which they were duly hammered by Glamorgan by 63 runs as they were bowled out for 105.

  • Their bowling performance was average with Kyle Abbott being smacked for 54 runs from his four overs, but the batting was their major concern as they found themselves 32/7 in the eighth over, and the likes of Munro, Vince, Roussouw and Northeast will all need to improve.

  • That was something of a hangover following their Royal London One-Day triumph and they will have to recover quickly against such a talented bowling attack like Sussex’s in front of their fans.

Coach: Jason Gillespie

Captain: Luke Wright

  • The Sharks have been one of the most impressive teams in the opening rounds of the t20 Blast so far having won both of their matches and doing so in comprehensive fashion against Essex and Glamorgan.

  • Wright, Evans and Burgess have enjoyed superb starts to the tournament with the bat, while in Jofra Archer and Rashid Khan, they have two bowlers that can take wickets at any time, so this is one of the most fearsome line-ups in the competition.

  • Changes are highly unlikely for a third consecutive match here as the Sharks are flying with confidence, and they will relish the trip to Hampshire where they will want to compound the miserable start for the hosts.

Hampshire were woeful in their first t20 Blast match against Glamorgan and they will be desperate to bounce back immediately, but this is not the fixture nor opponent they would have chosen. Sussex have arguably the best team in the entire tournament, and they have started this campaign in outstanding form. While Hampshire cannot play as badly as they did in that first match, their batsmen now have to contend with Archer and Khan, which will be a tough challenge. On the flipside, Sussex’s batsmen are also on fire, and with such a well-rounded team, it seems unlikely Hampshire will be able to raise their game sufficiently to that level to beat the Sharks here.
