All-time meetings:
Multan Sultans W1, Quetta Gladiators W1
Last meeting: Quetta Gladiators beat Multan Sultans by 2 wickets

Coach: Johan Botha

Captain: Shoaib Malik

  • Multan Sultans were able to bounce back from defeat in their opening game against Karachi Kings as they claimed their first win in this year’s PSL by beating Islamabad United by five wickets.

  • Shahid Afridi put in a typical all-action display as he contributed with both bat and ball whilst captain Shoaib Malik produced a controlled 31 not out to guide his side to victory alongside Afridi who hit a quick-fire 16 from just eight balls.

  • The Sultans are still without some of their key batsmen and despite their win over Islamabad, they could face trouble if their bowlers don’t perform as well as they did in that match.

Coach: Moin Khan

Captain: Sarfraz Ahmed

  • Quetta Gladiators remain the only side with a 100% record in the PSL after just two games as they backed up their win over Peshawar Zalmi with a comfortable win over reigning champions Islamabad United.

  • The Gladiators were winners by seven-wickets and really laid down a marker for the competition with veteran Shane Watson rolling back the years with an impressive knock of 81 not out from just 55 balls.

  • It’s been an impressive start by Quetta and they could be boosted by the arrival of Dwayne Bravo following the completion of the BBL as well as Sunil Narine if he can recover from a finger injury.

Multan Sultans picked up a valuable and unexpected win over Islamabad United but face a tough test here against the unbeaten Quetta Gladiators. With some of their key batsmen still unavailable, the Sultans were able to topple Islamabad thanks to a solid display by their bowlers. They will have to be even better to restrict Quetta who have begun the competition impressively but the Gladiators should have too much as they extend their winning run to three games.
