THE TEAM NEWS

LAHORE QALANDARS

Coach: Aqib Javed

Captain: AB de Villiers

  • The Qalandars picked up a vital victory on Friday in what was the best game of this year’s PSL so far as David Wiese smashed a six to overcome Multan Sultans’ 200/6 with the last ball after a stunning run chase and match.

  • There were plenty of positives for the team as Fakhar Zaman and AB de Villiers hit form with half centuries and Wiese came in for his first game of the season to smash 45 from 20 balls as they have overcome the loss of injured skipper Mohammad Hafeez.

  • They are forced into one change as Brendan Taylor pulled a muscle while attempting a quick single and the Zimbabwean wicketkeeper-batsman will likely miss some time now so that leaves them with local keeper Gauhar Ali behind the stumps unless De Villiers himself takes the gloves or they draft another in at short notice but it does free them up to bring another overseas player in like Corey Anderson.

QUETTA GLADIATORS

Coach: Moin Khan

Captain: Sarfraz Ahmed

  • The Gladiators sit at the top of the PSL ladder as the only team to have won all of their matches so far and confidence is flying after impressive wins over the Sultans, Islamabad United and Peshawar Zalmi.

  • Batting has their undoubted strong point in the tournament so far as they have only lost nine wickets across their three matches and they have scored 161 in all three run chases so far with relative ease.

  • It is unlikely that they will make any changes to their team based on their outstanding performances so far unless they decide to rotate but they have had three days since their last game so they are well rested coming into this one.

THE PREDICTION

The Qalandars picked up a key win on Friday in what was the most exciting game of the tournament so far as they chased down 200 in stunning fashion. That win came at a price however with the injury to Taylor and they could well be emotionally drained after putting in plenty of effort in that match. They face the standout team in the tournament so far in the Gladiators and they are well rested coming into this one. Their batsmen could have a field day with the Qalandars’ bowling attack and they may just have too much for them here.
