All-time meetings:
Lahore Qalandars W2, Quetta Gladiators W5
Last meeting: Quetta Gladiators beat Lahore Qalandars by 3 wickets

Coach: Aqib Javed

Captain: AB de Villiers

  • Following their stunning win over Multans Sultans, the Qalandars could not follow that up as they went down against Quetta Gladiators on Saturday so they remain with just two wins from five coming into this clash and they will need to improve on that performance as they face the Gladiators once again here.

  • The batting let them down against the Gladiators as they could only manage 143/7 and they desperately need their top order to set the foundations for a big score with Salman Butt especially struggling since he came into the side to replace injured skipper Mohammad Hafeez.

  • The inclusion of Yasir Shah has given them another dimension to their bowling attack and that was evident as they almost defended the modest total against the Gladiators so they will hope to win the toss and put them in first as De Villiers will likely prefer to chase here.

Coach: Moin Khan

Captain: Sarfraz Ahmed

  • Despite posting their highest score in the PSL so far, the Gladiators lost their first match on Sunday to Karachi Kings and that was the first time they batted first in five matches which only adds to the theory that they clearly prefer chasing in this competition.

  • For the first time in the tournament, their bowlers looked average with talented youngster Ghulam Mudasser struggling to cope with the pressure after being smashed for 44 from three overs so bowling first will likely benefit them too.

  • Despite the setback, there will be no over-reactions to that loss although they may decide to finally bring Dwayne Bravo into the side for compatriot Dwayne Smith who has yet to score more than 11 runs in an innings.

Both of these teams will favour chasing so that makes winning the toss crucial for this match. They met in Sharjah on Saturday and that game went down to the final ball with Sarfraz Ahmed hitting a last ball six to win it for his Gladiators side and this one promises to be another close one. It will be interesting to see how the Gladiators are affected by their first loss against the Kings on Sunday but they will be confident of bouncing back, especially if they win the toss.
