All-time meetings:
Lahore Qalandars W1, Peshawar Zalmi W5
Last meeting: Peshawar Zalmi beat Lahore Qalandars by 7 wickets

Coach: Aqib Javed

Captain: Mohammad Hafeez

  • The Qalandars are coming off a morale-boosting 22-run win over Karachi Kings as they defied their poor head-to-head record against them to magnificently defend a below par total of 138/6 to bowl the Kings out for just 116.

  • On a difficult pitch, the total of 138 did not seem enough to win but ultimately the contributions of Devcich, Sohail Akhtar and Fakhar Zaman were vital although they will be looking to improve with the legendary AB de Villiers struggling once again so they will hope to score more here.

  • Local bowlers Rahat Ali and Haris Rauf were in stunning form sharing seven wickets between them and if they can maintain such form, they combine to make a potent bowling attack with Yasir Shah, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Viljoen.

Coach: Mohammad Akram

Captain: Darren Sammy

  • Peshawar Zalmi lost their opening match against Quetta Gladiators by six wickets after posting a respectable 155/4 so they will be looking to bounce back after that disappointing opening against the Qalandar who they have a strong record against.

  • West Indian duo Fletcher and Pollard failed with the bat as they could only manage 1 and 3 respectively so they will need to improve here but they will hope that their bowlers can step up too after failing to quell the Gladiators last time.

  • On paper, their bowling unit looks strong with all-rounders Dawson and Pollard offering great options alongside Hasan Ali and Wahab Riaz, although they will look to bring Chris Jordan into the attack when they can which will only add quality to them.

The Qalandars are coming off a stunning victory over Karachi Kings on Saturday but that may have masked some of the deficiencies in their line-up. Their bowling unit was in stunning form but it may not be possible to replicate that again while their batsmen are not in great form. The one issue they have is that if their batsmen do not produce the goods, they have arguably the least depth of any team in the tournament until all-rounders Brathwaite and certainly Corey Anderson are available. That may just give Peshawar Zalmi the edge here who have beaten them five times in six matches played.
