All-time meetings:
Karachi Kings W2, Peshawar Zalmi W7
Last meeting: Peshawar Zalmi beat Karachi Kings by 44 runs

Coach: Mickey Arthur

Captain: Imad Wasim

  • Karachi Kings pulled off a dramatic one-run win on Sunday against Quetta Gladiators to seal their top four place with a game to go as Usman Shinwari defended five runs in the final over to help his team claim an unlikely victory.

  • Their total of 190/5 was solid but they will know that on this superb batting track, they will have to do better than that in the knockout phase of the tournament although their top order showed signs of reasonable form to carry into the next few matches.

  • The Kings would need to inflict a heavy loss on Peshawar Zalmi to have any chance of surpassing them in second but that is somewhat unrealistic so they will be keen to get another win to build more momentum and that may see them name an unchanged team.

Coach: Mohammad Akram

Captain: Darren Sammy

  • Peshawar Zalmi have gone six days without a game so they will use this game to tune up for the knockout phase and hope they can continue their strong form as they have won four of their last five games prior to this.

  • Veteran Misbah-ul-Haq came in for just his second game of the tournament against the Qalandars last time out and his unbeaten 59 was key in their victory especially with the rest of the top order failing around him after being 20/5 but they will need others to step up here.

  • They have possessed arguably the best bowling unit in the tournament so far with Hasan Ali leading the way while Tymal Mills came in for his debut last time out and impressed, so it will be interesting to see how they fair on this batting paradise.

A fascinating match-up in this final group stage match between two teams that have already qualified for the knockout phase. Karachi will be buoyed by their win on Sunday and determined to do well in front of their home fans. Peshawar remain somewhat unfancied by many but they have arguably the best balance of any team. Their batting does not overly standout but they are effective while their bowling unit is incredibly strong. The Kings on the other hand possess a superb top order capable of winning any match on their day, but their bowling unit has question marks despite their amazing win on Sunday. It will be interesting to see which team has the greater motivation here but Peshawar’s bowlers may just give them the edge.
