Coach: Dean Jones

Captain: Shadab Khan

  • Islamabad United know that a victory here is key to cementing a top four place so motivation will be high to get a win and to find some consistency heading into the knockout phase of the tournament.

  • The fact that Cameron Delport finally found some form albeit in defeat against Peshawar Zalmi last time out is a major boost for them as their top order is pretty potent along with Ronchi, Salt, Walton and Asif Ali – all of whom are improving.

  • Samit Patel and Wayne Parnell were on the sidelines in the last match but the former especially could well come back into the side for one of the top four batsmen to give them another spin option if they decide to change it around here given how the Abu Dhabi pitch has favoured slow bowling.

Coach: Moin Khan

Captain: Sarfraz Ahmed

  • Quetta Gladiators moved into top spot and sealed their knockout round place thanks to an impressive victory over Peshawar Zalmi on Monday by eight wickets as veteran Shane Watson was in stunning form hitting an unbeaten 91 runs.

  • The bowling unit has shown a big improvement in recent games and it was Fawad Ahmed and Mohammad Nawaz who played a key role in slowing Peshawar down in the middle overs after the powerplay and that was vital in restricting them to just 165/4 when 200 looked more likely.

  • They have shown a tendency to rotate their players a little when they have had a comfortable position in the ladder and with back-to-back matches, they may decide to rest one or two of their veterans for this match.

Quetta Gladiators had a dip in the middle of the group stage but have shown a big improvement in their last couple of matches to return to the top of the ladder. They come off an impressive win over Peshawar Zalmi on Monday and the only concern coming into this match will be fatigue or complacency. Islamabad need a win to pretty much seal a top four spot although they do not have the luxury of having played in Abu Dhabi yet which should favour Quetta. That said, motivation may just work in Islamabad’s favour to see them edge what should be an entertaining match here.
