THE TEAM NEWS

ISLAMABAD UNITED

Coach: Dean Jones

Captain: Mohammad Sami

  • Islamabad United come into the Dubai stage of the tournament in fine form having won their last two matches against Peshawar Zalmi and Karachi Kings with the latter victory coming in emphatic fashion chasing down 143/6 with almost four overs to spare.

  • Skipper Mohammad Sami sat out the victory over the Kings after his heroics against Zalmi where he picked up a hat-trick, but he should return here to lead the side so Mohammad Musa could make way for him.

  • They have been dealt a big blow however by the news that English batsman Ian Bell has been ruled out for the remainder of the tournament with injury so they will have to sign a replacement for him which is a cruel blow after he hit a half century in his one and only appearance so far.

MULTAN SULTANS

Coach: Johan Botha

Captain: Shoaib Malik

  • Multan Sultans are under pressure coming into the Dubai phase as they have lost their last three matches in a row and they desperately need a win as they sit bottom of the PSL ladder after five rounds of matches.

  • They will consider changes for this match but they have to do without Andre Russell after he was called up by thw West Indies for the remainder of the ODI series against England so they will rely on Dan Christian and Chris Green in his absence.

  • Johnson Charles came back into the side and smashed a fifty in that game to cement his place in the side, but it may be that the Sultans try to bolster their batting further by bringing Laurie Evans back in for one of the overseas all-rounders also.

THE PREDICTION

As the tournament returns to Dubai, defending champions Islamabad United come into this game in fine form in contrast to their opponents Multan Sultans who have lost three on the spin. United’s batting and bowling units are in good form so they will be confident coming into this match. The Sultans on the other hand are struggling badly and they keep rotating their pack to try find the right balance. Ultimately they are not doing well enough all-round and that has to be remedied quickly. This is going to be another tough assignment and it is difficult to go against Islamabad picking up another victory.
