Watford were denied all three points last weekend after a late Jermaine Defoe goal gave Bournemouth a share of the spoils at Vicarage Road. This Saturday sees them play at home once more as they welcome the visit of in-form Burnley.

Sean Dyche’s men have come out the other side of what was a slump that looked set to derail their season, but after 10 points from their last possible 12 they have managed to hold onto the seventh position that they have coveted for so long.

Watford are all but a win away from guaranteeing a fourth successive top-flight stint next season but with the form that the Clarets are in right now, they may have to wait at least another week for this to happen.

Watford’s only Premier League win over Burnley came at Vicarage Road back in February 2017. The Hornets took a 2-0 lead through club captain Troy Deeney and on-loan striker M’Baye Niang as they looked good value for victory that afternoon.

Although Ashley Barnes halved the deficit for the Clarets from the spot with 12 minutes remaining, it was not enough to stop the home side earning all three points with the final score being 2-1 to Watford.
