It seems as if every week the Premier League throws up a ‘six-pointer’ and this weekend is no different as Newcastle and Southampton square off at St James’ Park. Rafael Benitez men were easily disposed of by Liverpool last weekend and they will look to bounce back in the best possible way with a win over the Saints.

Mauricio Pellegrino’s side may have only lost once in their last six matches but the fact they have drawn four of them sees them in the position that they are currently in. Neither side is well stocked in terms of firepower, therefore the signs point to a draw.

February 2013 saw Newcastle play host to Southampton at St James’ Park and it was a game in which the home side picked up all three Premier League points. The Magpies came out on top it what was certainly an entertaining clash. Six goals were netted in total between the two sides, but it was Newcastle who bagged the lions share of them with the final score line resulting in a 4-2 home win.
