All-time meetings:
Sunrisers Hyderabad W6, Kolkata Knight Riders W10
Last meeting: Kolkata Knight Riders beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 6 wickets

Coach: Tom Moody

Captain: Kane Williamson

  • Sunrisers Hyderabad sit just outside the top four places on eight points – two behind a cluster of three teams – but they have two games in hand on those teams and come into this game following an excellent six-wicket win over leaders Chennai Super Kings on Wednesday.

  • Warner and Bairstow were the key men once again as they chased down 132/5 with relative ease but the duo only have a couple of games left before they head to England for World Cup duty, so they will be keen to leave on a positive note.

  • They are unlikely to make changes to the starting line-up for this match but they will be hoping that skipper Kane Williamson can find some form with the bat after scoring just 20 runs in his 3 innings so far.

Coach: Jacques Kallis

Captain: Dinesh Karthik

  • Kolkata Knight Riders are on a four-match losing streak after their dramatic 10-run defeat at the hands of Royal Challengers Bangalore on Friday and they need to snap this run quickly if they are to return to the top four places.

  • They may consider changing things around given the short turnaround between matches and to try spark a reaction from the players while they may decide to rest Kuldeep Yadav who is going through a difficult run of form.

  • They desperately need the top order to improve also rather than rely so heavily on Andre Russell’s stunning hitting though they will take heart from the fact that they beat the Sunrisers last time they met.

This is a crunch match for both of these teams as after sitting in the top four for much of the tournament so far, their recent poor form has seen them drop out. Both teams have major deficiencies in their batting but the Sunrisers’ bowling unit gives them the edge. The return to fitness and form of Khaleel Ahmed has been somewhat understated but he gives them real strength and with KKR’s bowlers struggling badly right now, the Hyderabad outfit should have the edge barring any more Andre Russell heroics.
