THE TEAM NEWS

ROYAL CHALLENGERS BANGALORE

Coach: Gary Kirsten

Captain: Virat Kohli

  • Royal Challengers Bangalore picked up their second win of IPL 2019 on Friday as they beat Kolkata Knight Riders by 10 runs and they had skipper Virat Kohli to thank for a magnificent century.

  • AB de Villiers missed the match after receiving a blow to the helmet in the previous game but they will hope he has recovered sufficiently to be able to play but he will face a late test so he will replace Heinrich Klaasen if he is fit.

  • The inclusion of Dale Steyn made a significant difference last time out and he adds a real threat in the powerplay with the ball, while Moeen Ali is currently looking in superb touch with the bat and contributing well with the ball also as RCB are finally hitting some form.

CHENNAI SUPER KINGS

Coach: Stephen Fleming

Captain: MS Dhoni

  • Chennai Super Kings lost just their second match in IPL 2019 so far last time out when Sunrisers Hyderabad comprehensively beat them by six wickets with 3.1 overs to spare, so they will be keen to bounce back here and consolidate top spot.

  • Skipper MS Dhoni was rested for that match following back spasms but he is fit again and will return to the side while Scott Kuggeleijn is also available again after he too missed the game through injury and he could come back for Mitch Santner.

  • This will be a different test for the Super Kings compared to the opening game of IPL 2019 when they bowled RCB out for just 70, and Kohli’s men will relish the conditions here and have also found some form, so the Super Kings will have to be at their best once again.

THE PREDICTION

Royal Challengers Bangalore are showing signs of life and finding some form to just about keep them alive in the tournament. They know that every match is must-win for them right now and the urgency is bringing the best out of captain Virat Kohli. Chennai Super Kings are coming off a defeat but they will not panic from one loss, especially given that was without inspirational skipper MS Dhoni. He returns here and will make a significant difference to the team. With him directing things, expect him to get the better of Kohli, and the quality and depth throughout the Super Kings team should see them win here.
