Coach: Mahela Jayawardene

Captain: Rohit Sharma

  • Mumbai Indians coasted to victory against Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday to seal top spot and they will take heart from the fact they have already beaten Chennai Super Kings twice in IPL 2019.

  • They brought Mitch McClenaghan in for the match on Sunday with Evin Lewis making way as the fourth overseas player and the Kiwi bowler took advantage of the opportunity going for just 19 from his four overs, and he could well have earned himself a place here.

  • They are finding form at just the right time of the season with the team looking strong throughout and they could well be tempted to go unchanged from the team that won that game against KKR with Ishan Kishan in the side.

Coach: Stephen Fleming

Captain: MS Dhoni

  • After leading the IPL 2019 ladder for the vast majority of the group stage, Chennai Super Kings’ defeat to Kings XI at the weekend saw them drop to second when Mumbai won their match which will have dented their pride a little.

  • They have been dealt a blow by the news that Kedar Jadhav has a shoulder problem that puts him out of action so they will be forced into bringing a local player in to replace him with Dhruv Shorey the most likely to come in.

  • The rest of the team should go unchanged as the line-up is extremely settled right now and although the loss of Jadhav appears to be big, his form has been poor scoring just 162 from 12 innings in IPL 2019 so it may be less than many expect.

The top two teams come into this qualifier aiming to win and seal their spot in the IPL 2019 final. Mumbai Indians have beaten Chennai Super Kings twice already this season including one win in Chennai. The Super Kings' form in the last couple of matches has dipped a little and while MS Dhoni and co are always capable of producing the goods, Mumbai Indians may just have the edge over them right now.
