All-time meetings:
Delhi Capitals W5, Sunrisers Hyderabad W9
Last meeting: Delhi Capitals beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 39 runs

Coach: Ricky Ponting

Captain: Shreyas Iyer

  • Delhi Capitals wrapped up an excellent group phase by winning four of their last five matches to finish third but level on points with Mumbai and Chennai above them, and they sealed it with an emphatic win over Rajasthan Royals by five wickets and 3.5 overs to spare.

  • In the win over the Royals, West Indies pace bowler Keemo Paul was forced to stop bowling midway through an over with what looked like cramp so he should be fit to take part here unless they decide to bring Chris Morris back in for this crunch match.

  • The rest of the team is looking extremely settled right now with good depth to the batting and some quality bowling options even without the injured Kagiso Rabada so they will likely be unchanged depending on Paul’s fitness.

Coach: Tom Moody

Captain: Kane Williamson

  • Sunrisers Hyderabad scraped into the top four after losing their last two matches and they were helped by the teams below them unable to take advantage to deny them despite their own poor form.

  • Their batsmen are at least proving that they can perform without Warner and Bairstow as Kane Williamson hit his first fifty of IPL 2019 last time out while Guptill and Saha have been contributing at the top of the order along with Pandey.

  • They have few quality options to rotate their team now despite losing their last two matches as Shakib Al Hasan has also departed for national team duty with Bangladesh although they could call upon Billy Stanlake if they wanted to add a pace option instead if Nabi potentially.

Sunrisers have dominated recent meetings against Delhi Capitals but those came against a different version of the Capitals with the 2019 team far superior to previous editions. Their team is one of the most well-rounded in the tournament with a strong batting order and a talented bowling attack even without star man Rabada. The Sunrisers were fortunate to scrape into the final four after losing their last two matches and while they will likely compete, they should fall short against this Capitals side.
