Coach: Ricky Ponting

Captain: Shreyas Iyer

  • After opening the tournament in emphatic fashion hitting 213/6 against Mumbai, the Capitals could only muster 147/6 against Chennai last time out which was some 15-20 short of being competitive so they will look to improve against KKR here.

  • They rely heavily on their top five batsmen and lack depth in the middle and lower order so that could well see South Africa all-rounder Chris Morris come into the side at the expense of Keemo Paul potentially or Axar Patel.

  • The Capitals only fielded three overseas players in that last game but they could decide to revert to four with Sandeep Lamichhane coming into the side if they are tempted to bring another spin option into the side.

Coach: Jacques Kallis

Captain: Dinesh Karthik

  • Kolkata Knight Riders are one of just two teams along with Chennai Super Kings to have won both of their opening matches as they have made a flying start with impressive victories against Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kings XI Punjab so far.

  • Andre Russell has been the undoubted star with bat and ball so far smashing 49 from 19 against the Sunrisers, 48 from 17 against Kings XI, while taking four wickets from his six overs so far in what has been a stunning opening two performances by him.

  • Given their impressive early form, the likelihood is that they will name an unchanged starting line-up for this match for the trip to Delhi as they aim to make it three wins from their opening three games.

Given the start that Kolkata Knight Riders have made to IPL 2019, it is difficult to see any team beating them as they have been comfortably the most impressive side with the bat. They have however required some minor miracles from Andre Russell in particular and while others have contributed, it is unlikely that such heroics can continue in every game. The Delhi outfit were below par last time out and given they are such a youthful team, they may suffer from inconsistency this year. They do however need to be on top of their game if they are to challenge KKR here and that will mean them out-scoring the visitors which seems unlikely.
