Coach: Stephen Fleming

Captain: MS Dhoni

  • Defending champions Chennai Super Kings have started IPL 2019 in strong form having won both of their matches so far against RCB and Delhi Capitals as they return home where they are notoriously strong as the only team with a 100% winning record in the tournament still.

  • They have yet to use their allocation of four overseas players in either game so which is largely due to Lungi Ngidi’s injury and David Willey has now returned to England for personal reasons so they have signed Kiwi all-rounder Scott Kuggeleijn who will join the team next week.

  • They are likely to name an unchanged side however for this game as while they have worked on the pitch to improve it, it will almost certainly favour the spinners and be another low-scoring affair.

Coach: Paddy Upton

Captain: Ajinkya Rahane

  • It has been a tough start for Rajasthan Royals who sit at the bottom of the IPL after two losses to Kings XI Punjab and Sunrisers Hyderabad but they will take heart from the fact that both matches were close and they could easily have won both.

  • They could desperately benefit from Ish Sodhi in their side but it remains highly unlikely that they will leave out any of Jos Buttler, Steve Smith, Ben Stokes or Jofra Archer but they may bring talented young all-rounder Mahipal Lomror for a left-arm spin option.

  • Their batting has been strong so far but they have not managed to fully maximise their options just yet though this will be a different test for them, while their bowling unit definitely needs to improve quickly.

Rajasthan Royals could easily have won both of their matches so far but they have lacked that killer instinct at decisive moments. Jofra Archer has been their only bowler to look a constant threat and they need Ben Stokes to improve quickly. Chennai on the other hand look incredibly strong and they are always favoured at home. They are likely to be unchanged here once again and their superb spin options should pose plenty of problems for the Royals’ batting order. A third consecutive win the Super Kings is on the cards.
