All-time meetings: Kolkata Knight Riders W13, Kings XI Punjab W7

Coach: Jacques Kallis

Captain: Dinesh Karthik

  • KKR are coming off another solid victory this time against the Rajasthan Royals as after keeping Rajasthan to 160, the Kolkata batsmen produced a consistent innings that saw them prevail comfortably by seven wickets.
  • Youngster Nitish Rana was named man of the match and with good reason. The young all-rounder captured both Rajasthan openers whilst also scoring an impressive 35* from 27 deliveries. Raina has been extremely impressive so far this tournament and is currently sitting third in total runs scored and has also taken 4 wickets with an economy of just 7.33 runs per over.
  • After another dominant performance, expect KKR to go in against the Kings XI unchanged as they look to string a run of victories together.

Coach: Brad Hodge

Captain: Ravichandran Ashwin

  • Kings XI Punjab are coming off a remarkable win, defeating the previously undefeated Sunrisers Hyderabad. Scoring 193 against the Sunrisers economical bowling unit, SRH were only able to reach 178 in the end, handing Kings XI their 3rd win from four matches.
  • It would be impossible to not mention the impact of Chris Gayle once again in just his second game as the master blaster was able to back up his blistering 63 against CSK with the IPL’s first century this year. Gayle scored 104 from 63 balls which has seen him jump to third overall in total runs scored from just two matches.
  • Kings XI may also go in unchanged to reward a winning team, however Mohit Sharma has been extremely expensive in his last three matches going at over 12 runs per over as Ben Dwarshuis still waits for an opportunity on the sidelines whilst Marcus Stoinis is also in the wings.

If both teams can fire, get set for a high scoring match here. Both teams have been dominant in the past two rounds, blitzing their opposition with some real firepower. The advantage for KKR against Kings XI is that their bowling attack is taking wickets and being economical. Kings XI however, have struggled to take wickets on a consistent basis. With the firepower of both teams a feature, the bowling units will have to be on song. For this reason we are going with KKR to subdue the Kings XI and make it three wins in a row.
