All-time meetings: Delhi Daredevils W7, Kolkata Knight Riders W13

Coach: Ricky Ponting

Captain: Shreyas Iyer

  • Delhi will be disappointed to blow a golden opportunity against the Kings XI last time out as after a disciplined bowling performance restricted the Kings XI to 143, Delhi failed to capitalise on such a good bowling performance and fell an agonising four runs short.
  • Liam Plunkett made his first appearance for 2018 and was outstanding with the ball as the England international took 3/17 and ensured that the Kings XI could not break the shackles so he will certainly keep his place.
  • After the last defeat, Gautam Gambhir stepped down as captain and is replaced by Shreyas Iyer and Gambhir may well sit this game out. It is highly likely that there will be a change or two for Delhi after yet another loss and as Jason Roy missed the last match, he is one candidate to come back into the eleven.

Coach: Jacques Kallis

Captain: Dinesh Karthik

  • KKR also faced the Kings XI in their most previous match and were taken down by a rampant Chris Gayle and KL Rahul as Punjab chased down their revised target of 125 in 11 overs in a rain affected match and were always in control of the chase.
  • With names such as Lynn and Russell in the batting order, Dinesh Karthik and Nitish Raina have slid under the radar but Karthik sits top of the runs scored for KKR with 194 (ave 48.5) whilst all-rounder Raina sits third with 165. Raina has also chipped in with four wickets throughout the tournament.
  • The KKR bowlers were pummelled by the Kings XI openers so changes may be considered. Tom Curran has had an inconsistent few matches and could make way for veteran Mitch Johnson who is known for being economical.

This will be a tough match for Delhi as they have struggled all season and have only banked the one victory against fellow strugglers Mumbai. Kolkata have been explosive at times but inconsistent overall which is shown by their 3/3 win-loss ratio. Delhi showed improvement in their previous match largely thanks to their bowling attack however the task of containing the explosive nature of KKR batsmen Lynn, Russell, Raina and Karthik seems too much of a task for this struggling outfit.
