  • Djokovic's frustrations boiled over during this third round match with Roberto Bautista Agut but the Serb managed to compose himself and come through in four sets.
  • The 2016 champion has shown flashes of his best form so far but he is still searching for the consistency that brought him such dominance a couple of years ago.
  • Djokovic has a 10-4 career record over Spanish opponent Verdasco and has come out on top each of the last five times that they have met on tour.

  • After surviving a five setter in his first round last Sunday, Verdasco's progress through the tournament has been much smoother and he caused an upset by eliminating fourth seed Grigor Dimitrov in Friday's third round.
  • Verdasco is a perennial presence in the fourth round of the French Open having now reached this stage on seven separate occasions. However, he has never managed to reach the quarter-finals at Roland-Garros.
  • The Spaniard has enjoyed most success against Djokovic on clay courts, tying him 3-3 in career meetings on the surface so there is precedant for him to perform well against the multiple major winner.

An interesting contest ensues here as Verdasco has got the better of Djokovic three times on clay before and has often picked up a set in his defeats so he matches up well to the Serb on this surface. It could therefore be another tricky day at the officer for Djokovic but he has shown enough in this past week that he is edging closer to the levels he needs to reach to win Grand Slams again.
