  • There is a quick turnaround this weekend as F1 heads to the hills of Spielberg for the Austrian Grand Prix. In France, Hamilton claimed his sixth GP win of the season and Mercedes recorded their tenth straight victory and 50th one-two. After cruising to victory at Paul Ricard, expectations will be for Hamilton to showcase another masterclass performance.
  • The Austrian Grand Prix is a fan and driver favourite. The picturesque Red Bull Ring is set in the stunning Austrian countryside; an awesome ten corner circuit with sweeping elevation changes, two DRS Zones and stunning vistas.
  • With the exception of last year, where Max Verstappen won for Red Bull, Mercedes have dominated Austria in recent years. For Ferrari, there is some hope heading to Spielberg, where the circuit layout should be more in the Italian team’s favour, and where Mercedes are nervous about cooling, in temperatures forecast to be over 30c.
  • Heading to Austria, Max Verstappen gave a candid prediction on how Red Bull could perform at the team's home, accepting “we have work to do” to recover the pace deficit to its front-running rivals and somewhat pessimistically foreseeing he will finish fourth or fifth, due to the Red Bull’s lack of pace.
  • The pressure is intensifying on Pierre Gasly due to his poor finishing positions and the gap to team-mate Verstappen. There have been many inside and outside of the team that have been highly critical of Gasly’s form. The Frenchman needs a good result this weekend in Austria.

After Lewis Hamilton’s masterclass demonstration in France where he comfortably cruised to victory, Mercedes and Hamilton are expected to dominate in Austria.

Red Bull will be determined to win again in their home race, but realistically after France, they are worried about their lack of pace and the performance gains of both Renault and McLaren.

Bottas needs to regain the form he showed at the beginning of the season, otherwise Hamilton will have no opposition in his quest to claim his sixth title. Racing fans will hope he will be closer this weekend.

The prediction is for another Lewis Hamilton win, where the hills will be alive with the sound of Hamilton celebrating.
