What’s new at Chennai Super Kings coming into IPL 2019?

Not much for the defending champions as they simply haven’t needed to! They have brought in a couple of local players but they will otherwise have the same group of players at their disposal and they will be led by MS Dhoni and the same coaching team as last year’s successful campaign.

Who are the key players for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2019?

Shane Watson was the Super Kings second topscorer last year but the fundamental difference is that he will only play as a batsman this year. He contributed six wickets last year as a part-time bowling option but there will be even more pressure on him to perform with the bat this time around.

South Africans Faf du Plessis, Lungi Ngidi and Imran Tahir were only available for part of the campaign last year but have no international commitments to interfere with their availability this year. Ngidi was something of a revelation taking 11 wickets in his seven matches as an unknown quantity while Du Plessis will be hoping to make a significant impact this tournament.

What are the question marks for Chennai Super Kings coming into IPL 2019?

The very fact that the Super Kings have not freshened up their roster is something of a concern for the team. They rely heavily on 37-year-olds Shane Watson and MS Dhoni along with 35-yeear-old Dwayne Bravo and one has to question whether these key cogs in the team can reproduce their sparkling form. At the same time, the fact they are so experienced may count in their favour.

How do The Stats Zone think Chennai Super Kings will perform in IPL 2019?

The quality throughout the roster will surely see CSK challenging at the back end of the tournament. They have quality in each department of the team with some star overseas players along with arguably the strongest set of local players too. Their record in the tournament is second to none and they will surely reach the knockout stage and go very close once again.

Among the favourites to win and will surely reach the knockout phase.
