Newcastle Jets have cut the gap at the top of the table to eight points after beating table-toppers Sydney FC last time out, and they will look to try and further erode that margin when they make the cross-Tasman journey to Wellington to face the Phoenix this weekend.

Wellington are cast adrift at the bottom after losing five of their last six matches, so a play-off berth looks highly unlikely and would be almost mathematically impossible should they lose to the Jets, an outcome that seems incredibly likely.

March 2017 paired the two sides together at the Westpac Stadium and it was a game that saw the home side run riot. The New Zealanders grounded the Jets after an impressive 5-0 win, and it certainly was a team effort as there were five different scorers for the Phoenix in what was a memorable win.
