Head Coach: Adrian Lam

Squad: Bullock, Clubb, Davies, Escaré, Farrell, Flower, Gildart, Greenwood, Hamlin, Hardaker, Isa, Leuluai, Marshall, Navarrete, O’Loughlin, Powell, Sarginson, Tautai, Williams

Unavailable: Joe Burgess, Dom Manfredi

  • Wigan face a huge test to claim the World Club Challenge as they host NRL champions Sydney Roosters on the back of a solid win first win of the season over Leeds Rhinos last week.

  • The Warriors have named the same 19-man squad as last week which comes as a surprise with new signing Jarrod Sammut now available to make his debut for the club after completing the ban he picked up in pre-season.

  • Sammut’s omission should see Tommy Leuluai and George Williams continue in the halves in an unchanged team with French international Morgan Escaré potentially left to sit out on the sidelines once again.

Head Coach: Trent Robinson

Squad: Aubusson, Butcher, Collins, Cordner, Crichton, Cronk, Faamausili, Friend, Hall, Ikuvalu, Keary, Kepaoa, Lam, Liu, Manu, Morris, Radley, Taukeiaho, Tedesco, Tetevano, Tupou, Tupouniua, Waerea-Hargreaves

Unavailable: Latrell Mitchell

  • Sydney Roosters head to England for their first game since lifting the 2018 NRL title against Melbourne Storm and will be looking for their fourth World Club Challenge victory in their fourth appearance.

  • The Roosters have selected a formidable squad with just Latrell Mitchell missing having played in the NRL All Stars game on Friday but they do have a couple of doubts amongst the 23-man party that has travelled.

  • New signing Angus Crichton is a big doubt and faces a late fitness test whilst Matt Ikuvalu is another that must prove his fitness with the make-up of the three-quarter line giving head coach Trent Robinson the most food for thought.

Sydney Roosters have shown how seriously they are taking this game by naming their strongest squad possible. That will be a worry for Wigan and even some light rain showers on the day of the game may not be enough to help level the playing field for the Warriors. Despite their lack of match fitness having not yet played in 2019, the Roosters should still be too strong and clinical for the Warriors and can remain unbeaten in World Club Challenge contests.
