All-time meetings:
Rob Cross 8-5 Peter Wright (2 draws)
Previous meeting: Rob Cross 7-5 Peter Wright

  • Rob Cross has won six out of his last seven Premier League matches and sits at the top of the league table - one point ahead of Michael van Gerwen. Last week in Belfast he defeated home-favourite Daryl Gurney 8-4 win an average of over 104.
  • His average of 104.71 against Gurney is his highest of the Premier League season – Cross has now averaged over 100 in seven of his ten Premier League matches during 2019.
  • Voltage pulled out of the Players Championship 10 on Sunday due to an abscess in his mouth – at the time of writing there is no update on his situation but it is not thought to be anything to serious.

  • Peter Wright drew 7-7 with Michael Smith last Thursday night in Belfast and is now without a win during his last five Premier League matches – he is seventh in the league table though only two points adrift of fourth-placed James Wade
  • The only two games he has won during the 2019 Premier League season have been against the now eliminated Raymond van Barneveld and Steve Lennon who was one of the nine ‘contenders’ replacing Gary Anderson.
  • Last weekend he suffered first round exits in both Players Championship tournaments – losing 6-4 to Jamie Hughes on Saturday and 6-5 to Ronny Huybrechts on Sunday.

League leader Rob Cross will be looking to extend his advantage at the top of the table with victory against an opponent in Peter Wright who has struggled for wins during the 2019 Premier League season. With Michael van Gerwen playing later on in the evening, Cross has a chance to extend his lead to three points by the time the Dutchman takes to the stage.

Cross was excellent against Gurney last week, posting his highest average of the campaign so far, and the fact he has averaged over 100 in seven of his ten matches shows the standard he has been performing at. Wright is certainly in danger of losing touch with the play-off places unless he manages to end his winless streak, too many under-par performances have left Snakebite with too many draws, his total of five the most of any player in the tournament. Wright has only won two of his last 11 matches against Cross and it seems unlikely he will improve on that record with Voltage tipped to take the two points from this fixture.
