All-time meetings
: Mensur Suljovic 9-8 Peter Wright
Previous meeting: Peter Wright 4-3 Mensur Suljovic

  • Mensur Suljovic is looking for his first win of the 2019 Premier League season having drawn two and lost one of his opening three matches. Last season he had to wait until his fourth match before he recorded his first win.
  • He really should have claimed a victory last week when he led 5-1 against Raymond van Barneveld and he subsequently went on to miss a dart at double which would have seen him win 7-5.
  • Suljovic is the only player in the tournament yet to muster a ton-plus checkout. His highest finish of the 2019 Premier League so far is 72.

  • Peter Wright came back from 3-0 down against Steve Lennon to win 7-5 last week in Dublin and in doing so registered his first win of the 2019 Premier League season following draws on night one and two.
  • Despite his current position in the top four, only Raymond van Barneveld and Michael Smith have a lower tournament average than Wright after three matches played.
  • He suffered early exits in both of the Players Championship tournaments last weekend. On Saturday he lost in round two Ted Evetts, whilst on Sunday he was beaten in round one by Benito van de Pas.

Neither player have been at their consistent best during the 2019 Premier League season so far. Wright will obviously be more satisfied with the haul of points he has but it could be said that Suljovic has played to a higher level across his three matches. The Gentle has tasted a fair bit of success against Wright recently having won five of their six meetings during 2018. Suljovic triumphed 7-1 when they played in last season’s Premier League – though Wright did win 4-3 in the World Grand Prix semi-final in their last encounter (that game was played over the double-start format). Suljovic certainly needs a win to ease some of the doubts that might creep into his head having not won so far in the league this season, especially after his early Premier League elimination last season and Wright is very difficult to assess as he can change his equipment frequently. With no real confidence that either player will perform to their best, a draw is the prediction here.
