THE TEAM NEWS

SALFORD RED DEVILS

Head Coach: Ian Watson

Squad: Bibby, Chamberlain, Dudson, Evalds, Flanagan, Griffin, Hastings, Jones, Lawton, Lussick, Lui, Murray, Nakubuwai, Olpherts, Sio, Tomkins, Turgut, Walker, Welham

Unavailable: Josh Wood, Junior Sa’u, Lee Mossop

  • Salford couldn't back up their superb win away at Catalans as they narrowly went down to Castleford in a closely-fought contest last week with the Red Devils their own worst enemy making numerous unforced errors.

  • Prop Adam Walker made Salford debut last week and is set to retain his place to make his home debut despite the Red Devils having plenty of competition for places in the forward pack.

  • Adam Lawton could also make a home debut for Salford after he was named in the 19-man squad by head coach Ian Watson with Tyrone McCarthy dropping out having not been selected last week.

WIGAN WARRIORS

Head Coach: Adrian Lam

Squad: Bullock, Burgess, Byrne, Clubb, Davies, Flower, Gildart, Greenwood, Hamlin, Hardaker, Isa, Leuluai, Manfredi, Navarrete, O’Loughlin, Sammut, Sarginson, Shorrocks, Williams

Unavailable: Liam Farrell, Liam Marshall, Sam Powell, Taulima Tautai, Morgan Escaré

  • Wigan showed some signs of improvement as they pushed Warrington close towards the end of their contest last week but ultimately fell short and still have just the solitary win to their name this season.

  • Dom Manfredi and Joe Burgess are both back in the 19-man squad for Wigan which is a huge boost, particularly in the case of Burgess who has missed the last 11 months because of an ACL injury.

  • The return of the wing pair comes at a good time with Morgan Escaré pulling up in training this week so is unavailable whilst younger Liam Byrne receives a place in the squad for the first time this season.

THE PREDICTION

Salford put in a competitive albeit error-strewn display against Castleford last week but fell just short and will now be looking to bounce back against Wigan. The Warriors still have just one win to their name and although they were better against Warrington, they could be set to taste defeat again here. The Red Devils have players to hurt Wigan and their intensity could cause problems for the Warriors who will be desperate to find a win but could come away without the win once again.
