THE TEAM NEWS

SALFORD RED DEVILS

Head Coach: Ian Watson

Squad: Bibby, Burke, Dudson, Evalds, Flanagan, Griffin, Hastings, Inu, Jones, Lussick, Lui, McCarthy, Murray, Nakubuwai, Olpherts, Sa’u, Walker, Welham, Wood

Unavailable: Lee Mossop, Ken Sio, Logan Tomkins, Ed Chamberlain

  • Salford were hugely impressive as they brought their run of four Super League matches without a win to an end as they shocked Warrington on Good Friday with their dominant first half doing the job.

  • The Red Devils raced into a big half-time lead and that proved too much for Warrington with Salford also managing to win the second half with a solid all-round performance as they ran out 12-36 winners.

  • Ian Watson has named the same 19-man squad for the Easter Monday contest with Wigan and although he may look to shuffle his pack slightly, his side will be buoyant after Friday’s win as they look for revenge after the Warriors defeated them last month.

WIGAN WARRIORS

Head Coach: Adrian Lam

Squad: Bourouh, Bullock, Burgess, Escaré, Flower, Gildart, Greenwood, Hankinson, Hardaker, Isa, Leuluai, Marshall, O’Loughlin, Partington, Ja. Shorrocks, Smith, Smithies, Tautai, Williams

Unavailable: Liam Farrell, Tony Clubb, Gabe Hamlin, Dom Manfredi, Jarrod Sammut, Sam Powell, Tom Davies, Romain Navarrete, Dan Sarginson

  • Wigan couldn’t live with St Helens in the second half of their Good Friday derby as the Cherry and Whites suffered a third consecutive loss in Super League to remain on just six competition points.

  • The Warriors were eight points behind at the break but St Helens ran in 18 unanswered points to condemn Wigan to a big loss with a tricky trip to Salford on the agenda for Easter Monday after that gruelling encounter.

  • Tom Davies is set for a long spell on the sidelines after suffering a dislocated and fractured ankle but Jake Shorrocks is named in the squad after he was also stretchered off with Liam Marshall returning to the squad following an injury lay-off and is joined by youngsters Harry Smith and Amir Bourouh.

THE PREDICTION

Wigan’s miserable run of form continued as they suffered a third-straight Super League defeat with local rivals St Helens coming out on top on Good Friday. Salford on the other hand were able to end their own run of defeats as they shocked Warrington with a superb performance. They will be looking to build on that win and will feel very confident of gaining revenge over Wigan after the Warriors were victors in their last contest in March. Wigan’s squad looks weaker than the one named on Friday and another defeat looks to be on the cards with Salford likely to be too good here.
