  • Leeds were comfortable winners over Workington in the Challenge Cup last week but that was off the back of an awful display against Hull KR which will need to be rectified quickly against Super League opposition.

  • The Rhinos rested several players last week including Konrad Hurrell but he returns to the squad this week along with Tom Briscoe and Brad Dwyer as Leeds look for just their third league win of the season.

  • Trent Merrin is still back home in Australia on compassionate grounds so will miss this contest along with Adam Cuthbertson and Jack Walker who are nursing knocks but could return on Easter Monday.

Head Coach: Simon Woolford

Squad: Clough, English, Frawley, Hewitt, Ikahihifo, Lawrence, Leeming, Matagi, McGillvary, McIntosh, Murphy, O’Brien, Russell, I. Senior, Ta’ai, Turner, Uate, Jo. Wardle, Ja. Wardle

Unavailable: Leroy Cudjoe, Dale Ferguson, Adam Walne, Scott Grix, Colton Roche, Oliver Roberts, Lee Gaskell, Alex Mellor

  • Huddersfield were able to hang on and claim a valuable win over Castleford last week with the Giants looking to build on that here as they face an important contest against fellow strugglers Leeds.

  • The Giants are still struggling with injuries but are hoping to receive a big boost with numerous players set to return over Easter, and one of those is Paul Clough who is named in the 19-man squad for the first time this season.

  • He is joined by Michael Lawrence who has recovered from a knock but hat-trick hero from last week Alex Mellor is out along with Lee Gaskell which will see a change in halfback combination for the Giants.

Leeds' defence was alarming in their last league game against Hull KR and if they reproduce that they will be in big trouble this season. They host a Huddersfield side who will arrive full of confidence after a good win over Castleford last week and can build on that with another win here. The Giants showed plenty of character in that win, especially late on as they had to keep Castleford out when they were applying pressure to their line but they stood firm. Leeds might have picked up some confidence from their Cup win last week but this will be a much stiffer test and one they look like falling short in.
