THE TEAM NEWS

CASTLEFORD TIGERS

Head Coach: Daryl Powell

Squad: Clare, Clark, Cook, Eden, Egodo, Foster, Holmes, Maher, Massey, Mata’utia, Millington, Milner, Minikin, O’Neill, Sene-Lefao, Shenton, Trueman, Turner, Watts

Unavailable: Luke Gale, Jamie Ellis, Mike McMeeken, Jordan Rankin, Paul McShane, Junior Moors, Chris Clarkson

  • Castleford almost fought back to beat Leeds last week but some poor game management saw them go down to defeat in golden point and the Tigers will be looking to avoid a third-straight defeat here.

  • The Tigers will be without Paul McShane after the hooker was referred to an RFL tribunal for using his elbow in a tackle last week and was handed a three-match suspension for his actions.

  • He is joined on the sidelines by Jordan Rankin, Junior Moors and Chris Clarkson with Calum Turner, Tuoyo Egodo, Jacques O’Neill and Mitch Clark all receiving call-ups and new signing Daniel Smith could be a late inclusion.

WIGAN WARRIORS

Head Coach: Adrian Lam

Squad: Bullock, Burgess, Byrne, Davies, Flower, Gildart, Greenwood, Hardaker, Isa, Leuluai, Manfredi, Navarrete, O’Loughlin, Partington, Sammut, Sarginson, Shorrocks, Smithies, Williams

Unavailable: Liam Farrell, Liam Marshall, Sam Powell, Morgan Escaré, Tony Clubb, Gabe Hamlin

  • Wigan produced their best performance of the season as they punished a poor Catalans outfit by 42 points without reply despite fielding a very youthful side, particularly in the pack.

  • After Wigan were without several first-teamers last week they look set to receive a boost with the return of captain Sean O'Loughlin, although he must pass a late fitness test to come back into the side.

  • Joe Greenwood is back in the 19-man squad after serving his suspension, with Liam Paisley the man to make way, but Taulima Tautai has not been chosen despite completing a ban of his own.

THE PREDICTION

Castleford failed to show a big enough improvement on the back of their big loss to St. Helens, their second consecutive defeat, and now face a tough match with Wigan the visitors. The Warriors were superb last week and if they match that level of performance they will win again. They will have to overcome off-field distractions after Gabe Hamlin was suspended for a drug violation but with Castleford missing several key players, the Warriors can take advantage.
