Last meeting: Warwickshire beat Yorkshire by 5 wickets

Coach: Jim Troughton

Captain: Jeetan Patel

  • Warwickshire were pipped for a knockout round place in dramatic fashion last year as they lost by one-wicket in the final group match to Worcestershire Rapids, so they will look to go one better and reach the knockouts this time around.

  • They will have to start their Royal London One-Day Cup without two key men as batsman Ian Bell and pace bowler Olly Stone are both injured and their absences leave a major gap in both units of the team.

  • They will be able to count upon Chris Woakes for a couple of matches at least and they will need their England all-rounder to be at his best with the ball especially if they are to do well against this strong Yorkshire batting line-up.

Coach: Andrew Gale

Captain: Steven Patterson

  • Yorkshire got their campaign off to a flying start in Wednesday as they embarrassed Leicestershire by 213 runs at Headingley as the visitors could not come close to challenging Yorkshire’s superb 379/7 – a total they reached despite being reduced to 17/3 at one point.

  • Gary Ballance was the star with the bat smashing 155 from 133 balls while Mathew Pillans shone with the ball taking 5/29 so they will take plenty of positives from that match to carry into this trip to the midlands.

  • Duanne Olivier was not selected in the team for that match but the South African paceman is expected to come back into the side here to strengthen them even further while all-rounder Matthew Waite comes back into the squad for Ben Coad who is rested.

Yorkshire started their campaign in superb form on Wednesday dominating Leicestershire, and they will look to follow that win up against another midlands team. Warwickshire are missing a couple of key players in Bell and Stone which will not help their cause, and it is difficult to see how their bowling attack will be able to halt this strong and deep Yorkshire batting line-up. Combined with the fact that they have some top quality bowlers like Olivier, Rashid and Bresnan, Yorkshire can make it back-to-back wins here.
