Last meeting: Leicestershire beat Durham by 5 wickets

Coach: James Franklin

Captain: Cameron Bancroft

  • Durham got their Royal London One-Day Cup campaign off to a fabulous start on Wednesday as they comfortably beat Northants by 72 runs after they posted a superb total of 342/5 in their 50 overs.

  • Skipper Cameron Bancroft led the way with a superb unbeaten 150 and that will give the Aussie international plenty of confidence for the rest of the summer as well as boosting the rest of the batting order and relatively young team.

  • Coach James Franklin has named an unchanged squad for this match and after such an impressive performance, they are likely to go with the same team to face Leicestershire here.

Coach: Paul Nixon

Captain: Paul Horton

  • Leicestershire were beaten in their opening game on Wednesday despite having made a fantastic start against Yorkshire in reducing them to just 17/3 but Gary Ballance and Harry Brook took the game away from them and they couldn’t come close to their total of 379.

  • Talented young bowler Tom Taylor took the three early wickets against Yorkshire and continues to show plenty of promise but they lack quality support around him and they will have to remedy that quickly.

  • They have named the same squad for this match and after seeing Durham hit a big score batting first on Wednesday, they know they will have to bowl much better and they will ideally bat first if they win the toss.

Durham pulled off a tremendous win on Wednesday despite fielding five debutants in List A matches and a relatively young and inexperienced team. That will give them major confidence that they can do well this year and they can if Bancroft continues this impressive start to his Durham career. Leicestershire were poor against Yorkshire but they have a talented bowler in Taylor who can swing the match in their favour. They need more players to step up and contribute with bat and ball, but they cannot be as poor as they were against Yorkshire. Expect a close game and favour the team batting first here.
