Head Coach: Des Hasler

Starting 13: Elliot, Taufua, Suli, Parker, Garrick, Elgey, Cherry-Evans, Sipley, Koroisau, Taupau, Thompson, Sironen, J. Trbojevic – Interchanges: Fainu, Gosiewski, Waddell, Tanginoa – Reserves: Hodkinson, Funa, Perrett, Croker

Unavailable: Albert Hopoate, Taniela Paseka, Tom Trbojevic, Corey Waddell, Dylan Walker, Addin Fonua-Blake

  • Des Hasler's return to Manly got off to a poor start as his side suffered defeat at the hands of Wests Tigers in their season opener and they will need to make big improvements across the park this week.

  • Tom Trbojevic was a big doubt for this game which and he has been ruled out which is a big blow for the Sea Eagles with the fullback imperative to Manly’s chances of picking up their first win of the season.

  • Trent Hodkinson has been left out of the 17 following his public dismay at not being selected in the halves whilst Addin Fonua-Blake is banned so Toafofoa Sipley starts in the front row with Corey Waddell and Manase Fainu joining the bench.

Head Coach: Trent Robinson

Starting 13: Tedesco, Tupou, Mitchell, Manu, Morris, Keary, Lam, Waerea-Hargreaves, Friend, Taukeiaho, Cordner, Aubusson, Radley – Interchanges: Liu, Tetevano, Collins, Crichton – Reserves: Butcher, Ikuvalu, Tupouniua, Faamausili

Unavailable: Ryan Hall, Billy Smith, Cooper Cronk

  • Sydney Roosters got the defence of their Premiership title off to the worst possible start as they lost to fierce local rivals South Sydney with head coach Trent Robinson left to feel very disappointed by his side’s showing.

  • Latrell Mitchell was cited by the judiciary for a high tackle but the Roosters centre escaped with just a fine and will be free to play which but the Tricolours have suffered some significant injury news during the week.

  • Halfback Cooper Cronk is a late scratching with hamstring tightness and that means Lachlan Lam will come in for his NRL debut, lining up alongside Luke Keary in the halves with the Roosters looking to right the wrongs of last week.

Manly struggled to keep hold of the ball in their opening game of the season and now face a Sydney Roosters side that will be keen to put last week's poor effort against South Sydney behind them. The Premiers were second best against the Rabbitohs but will be looking to bounce straight back here. The news that champion halfback Cooper Cronk is out is a big blow for the Roosters but Lachlan Lam is highly rated and will look to impress on debut with his side able to get the win.
