Last meeting: Slovakia 3-4 Denmark

  • Slovakia secured back-to-back wins as they demolished Great Britain 7-1 to claim a third win of the group and move to nine points in Group A with one game remaining.

  • The Slovaks seized control of the game early on, as Edmonton Oilers defenseman Andrej Sekera scored 2:04 minutes in and Montreal Canadiens forward Tomas Tatar added another goal 21 seconds later to make it 2-0.

  • Slovakia have scored 13 of their total 26 goals in the previous two group matches and forward Panik Richard is the team’s leading points scorer with one goal and six assists.

  • Denmark recorded their third consecutive loss as they failed to score and conceded five goals against a ruthless Canadian side to leave them on five points in Group A.

  • Denmark’s attack had 24 shots during the loss to Canada on Monday but they were unable to score past goaltenders Carter Hart and Mackenzie Blackwood.

  • The Danes are ranked 11th in scoring efficiency for the tournament with 17 goals scored from a total of 191 shots which equates to an 8.9% shooting percentage from their opening six games.

The final group game for Slovakia and Denmark takes place at the Steel Arena with Slovakia the only team with a chance of qualifying for the quarter-finals. Slovakia require a win and must hope that Germany lose their final group game in order to finish in fourth place. Denmark have failed to impress with five defeats and expect Slovakia to come out on top in front of their fans and win their third straight game.
