- 37-year old David Ferrer beat fellow Spaniard and friend Roberto Bautista Agut 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 on Tuesday in the first round of the Madrid Open.
- The veteran Spaniard has clinched 13 clay-court titles since turning professional in 2000, which is the third-highest of any active player.

- Alexander Zverev's last match ended in a 6-4, 5-7, 7-5 loss to 47th ranked Cristian Garin in the quarter finals of the Munich Open on Friday.
