Coach: Tom Moody

Captain: Mashrafe Mortaza

  • Rangpur Riders are under pressure coming into this match with the Sixers as they have lost their last three matches now and have dropped out of the top four places so this match is a vital one for them to turn their campaign around.

  • They are handed a timely boost by the arrival of South African legend AB de Villiers who arrived in Bangladesh on Thursday and will make his first start for the Riders in this year’s competition so he adds some major firepower to the middle order if he can fire immediately

  • Their last three defeats have come chasing totals as they have lacked the composure to see them through despite coming close in two of those matches so they may prefer to bat first and set a big total, although the inclusion of De Villiers – likely at the expense of Alex Hales – should boost them significantly.

Coach: Waqar Younis

Captain: David Warner

  • Sylhet Sixers are coming off a heavy loss at the expense of leaders Dhaka Dynamites on Friday and that means they have lost three of their last four matches as they remain outside the top four places and they will be desperate to make some ground up with a win here.

  • Despite his elbow problem that will see him shortly return to Australia, Warner did not seem too affected by that in the loss to the Dynamites as he hit his second consecutive half century, and he remains vital to their hopes as they aim to win in what will likely be his final match of the tournament.

  • They will hope for an improved bowling display after they struggled against the Riders with only Lamichhane able to provide a good return in terms of economy rate especially for such a key match against the Riders who are level on points with them.

Both of these teams are under pressure to get a victory here as they sit level on four points in the Bangladesh Premier League table. The Riders especially have the pressure of having so many big names in their ranks and the expectation on them, while the Sixers will be keen to get a win at home in Sylhet. The inclusion of AB de Villiers should give the Riders the spark they need to bounce back to winning ways here however.
