THE TEAM NEWS

KHULNA TITANS

Coach: Mahela Jayawardene

Captain: Mahmudullah

  • Khulna Titans lost their seventh match in their opening eight games in the tournament on Tuesday as they were undone by Rangpur Riders despite posting their third consecutive total of 180 or more as their batting looks strong with every game.

  • They were able to welcome Yasir Shah into the side after he arrived following international duty but he proved expensive as he went for 47 from his 3.3 overs despite taking two wickets and they will need him to improve here.

  • The opening partnership continues to struggle and it would be no surprise to see them change things around once again as Brendon Taylor could move further up the order after his good start to the campaign and they continue to re-jig things after each game as they try to find a winning formula.

SYLHET SIXERS

Coach: Waqar Younis

Captain: Unknown

  • Sylhet Sixers are refusing to give up on their chances of reaching the top four places despite losing four of their last five matches and losing skipper David Warner to injury for the remainder of the tournament.

  • The Aussie batsman has returned home for surgery on an elbow injury which is a blow to the team for his batting and leadership but he is replaced by English opener Jason Roy who flew to Bangladesh over the weekend and will need to hit the ground running here.

  • The batting line-up has shown signs of improvement with Sabbir Rahman and Nicholas Pooran playing well recently along with Warner, but they need Liton Das to step up along with their bowlers who are proving too expensive of late.

THE PREDICTION

This match is pretty much a last chance saloon for either of the teams to make a run for a top four place now so there is plenty at stake. Both teams have been losing matches but have been competitive with their batting especially clicking into gear. The Titans have arguably been the more consistent of the two and could have won more than the solitary game they have won while the Sixers will miss David Warner significantly. With that key absence and Jason Roy likely to take time to adjust to the conditions, the Titans could have the slight edge here.
